A Swedish Metal Opera
 

The first ever Swedish Metal Opera,
Thundermaker is the vision of guitarist & songwriter Marty Gummesson.Though originally a band, Thundermaker evolved into a vehicle for Marty’s storytelling using the medium of true metal with a stunning cast of amazing musicians!

The project’s 2014 debut album, The Thundermaker set the stage, but it wasn’t until 2018’s Gods of the Earth album that Thundermaker’s journey began in earnest. The album featured guest appearances by THOR, Blaze Bayley (Wolfsbane, Iron Maiden), Kane Roberts (Alice Cooper), Wade Black (Crimson Glory), and more, bringing Marty’s vision of a true Metal Opera to life!

In 2021, Thundermaker returned with the epic album The Road via a deal with Sliptrick Records. The album continued to reach into Marty’s inspirations from traditional metal, power metal, and classic rock to tell his introspective tales of adversity and triumph while collaborating with epic vocalists Ronny Munroe (Metal Church, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), the legendary Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens (KK’s Priest, Judas Priest, Iced Earth), L-G Petrov (Entombed) and Rille Larsson.Mixed by  Mikko Karmila and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios, Helsinki, Finland (Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Stratovarius, Sonta Arctica, Amorphis),‘

The Road’ marked a huge step forward for Thundermaker as the album received positive press in Europe and beyond.Marty looked to elevate Thundermaker even further and in 2024 signed a deal with US-based metal label Psychomanteum Records. Working together to take Thundermaker to the next level, Marty and the label agreed to a release a pair of EPs to tell a story of longing and connection.

He enlisted Laura Guldemond from the one and only Swiss/Dutch metal band Burning Witches for the first EP, and KIMI from the Japanese metal band BRIDEAR for the second. Joined by American session and touring drummer Andrew Greene (Black ‘n’ Blue, Appetite), the two-part tale,The Journey With You, is currently in production with new music expected to be made public at the end of 2024 and again at the start of 2025.
While the EPs will be released separately on digital platforms, a deluxe full-length album version with bonus tracks is expected in spring of 2025.
